Life is Strange 1 - One Thing I Noticed About The Ending

Something strange about the ending

At the end of Life Is Strange you basically have two choices. Save Chloe and sacrifice Arcadia Bay or go back in time to let Chloe die, to save the city from the storm.Just there is something strange about it. We learned throughout the game that messing with time is not a good thing. The more you try to change it, the worse everything seems to get.

But why would Max be sure that sacrificing Chloe would actually stop the storm? She cannot even know for certain if the storm was actually caused by her, even if it looks like it. In order to go back in time and let Chloe die, she would have to do another photo jump, which possibly could make everything even worse.

Are all the timelines permanent?

If we think about the possibility that there are multiple coexisting timelines, Max might actually create even more timelines by doing another photo jump.
There is no guarantee that she can actually get back exactly to the original timeline and even if she succeeds, the other timelines she already created might be permanent.

So Chloe might still be in her wheelchair somewhere, depending on how you reacted to her last wish, which is really sad to think about TT...
This also means that we can't be sure if the storm only shows up in the alternative timelines, since Max already created all of them, the original timeline might be impacted as well.

In any case, if this theory is true, Arcadia Bay would get destroyed no matter what, at least in the timeline where Max and Chloe are standing in front of the lighthouse at the end.

Is it worth the risk?

So if I think about the situation from Max's perspective, at the end of Life is Strange, there are just too many variables to consider and it's not worth leaving Chloe again, and then letting her die in the bathroom right away, just to see if it works or not.

But all of those points aside, I would still choose to save Chloe, especially after all they've been through together. On the other hand, I do understand why someone would want to protect Arcadia Bay, if you consider how many lifes the storm took and how much destruction it caused.

I wish they would have put some more effort into the 'save Chloe ending' though, it was much shorter as the other one and I felt like the developers kind of wanted you to sacrifice her...

What do you think? Did you save Chloe or Arcadia Bay?
