After reviewing Wonder Woman, I wanted to go back and take a look at Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad again. While I think Wonder Woman is a pretty good movie, I'm not so positive about the other two.
In this movie Batman and Superman want to stop each other for different reasons, while Lex Luthor is making his own plans in the back.
Well made visuals and action scenes
One thing that DC does right is the look of their films. Marvel movies often have a greyish and boring look to them, but the contrast of the colors here is much better. Just the CGI in the final fight with Doomsday looked pretty awful.
Unfortunately I couldn't find much positive here except the visual aspect.
Bad casting choices
Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill as Superman both did a good job I think, but Jesse Eisenberg and Ben Affleck were terribly miscast in my opinion.
I don't know who thought Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor would be a good idea, but no... it's not. Actually it looks more like he's playing the Joker and there is none of Lex Luthors charm and intelligence here. Jesse Eisenberg is a fine actor usually and I don't think it was his fault, probably someone told him to act like that.
I know many people actually liked Ben Affleck as Batman, but I really cannot see why. He basically had the same facial expression in all the scenes, where he wasn't wearing his costume, and his acting was pretty awkward and stiff.
You better run away when you see this Batman
Another big problem I have is the depiction of Batman in this movie. They wanted him to look like an absolute badass, but instead he looked like a complete moron without a brain. There are times when he just kills people left and right that didn't even do anything really bad, and it didn't even look like he cared at all, blinded by his rage. His extreme hate for Superman is strange too, since it's not like Superman could have killed Zod so easily and if he didn't stop him everybody would be dead by now. Also he wasn't even suspicious at all about anything that Lex Luthor was doing, what a great detective.
On the other side it was also pretty strange that Superman would hate Batman so much, but after seeing what kind of person Batman has become, I guess he has a point.
Batman complained that Superman acts above the law, but what does he do? That applies to both of them and it absolutely made no sense.
The fight
The fight itself was also really disappointing and didn't last more than 10 minutes. But from a logical standpoint, if you have kryptonite why not use it right away? Maybe Batman wanted to see what happens if you get punched by Superman? Congratulations! Also the point of them both having a mother with the same name and suddenly becoming best friends was really awkward and unbelievable.
Bottom line
Batman v Superman is a disaster in my opinion. The story is boring, the characters are unlikable and it didn't even deliver us the spectacular fight between Batman and Superman that they promised us so much. But the worst thing of all is that they destroyed Batman and made him to be a selfish, violent and brainless bully.
