Clickworker is a company from Germany that offers small online jobs. Most of these tasks involve categorizing stuff, participating in online surveys, writing short texts, doing some research on the internet, helping to improve AI and the like.

Working online from the comfort of your own home sounds really promising. There is no boss, who is shoving you around, and you can work at any time you want, even early in the morning. But are online jobs like this really legit? Even if they are, how much money can you expect to earn in one month? These are the questions that I want to answer for you today from my own honest experience.

Is Clickworker legit?

This is probably the first question you are gonna have. From my experience, I can say that Clickworker is definitely legit and I always received my payments on time.

There are currently three payment methods. PayPal, SEPA transfers and Transferwise.  Paypal is the standard method that most people use though. Payments are made once per week, as long as your balance is more than 5 Euros for Paypal transfer and 10 Euros for the other two options.

It can take a few days until the money you earned is actually payable though. This always depends on the conditions of the client you worked for. But mostly it doesn't take more than one week and you can always check your status in the upper right corner.

How to become a Clickworker

Becoming a Clickworker is super easy, just click this link and you will find the option to sign up in the middle of the page. All you need to do is provide some personal information, verify your e-mail and you are good to go.

Before you actually start working though, it's a good idea to fill out your profile first. You can choose among various skills, hobbies and languages. Based on this information, suitable jobs will show up on your dashboard.

Most of the simple tasks will be available to you right away, but for some jobs you need certain qualifications. In order to unlock them, you need to take some assessments first.

How to qualify for more jobs

Most of the assessments are designed to test your language skills. When I did my German author assessment, the test consisted of three different parts. I think it would be very similar for English or other languages.

The first part is a multiple choice test about grammar and punctuation. It sounds simple, but it's actually not that easy. The tricky thing is that more than one answer can be correct, so you have to be very careful.

Then you have to choose one among three short fill-in-the-blank texts. It's also pretty easy to make mistakes here because you have to fill in either words or punctuation, but sometimes both are required. There is no further notice though, so take your time and double check everything. You can only participate in the third part, if you pass the first two tests.

For the last part you have to write a free text of your own. You can choose one of three topics that you are most interested in. For example, I wrote a short biography about my favorite musician. I think it was about 150 words, so it doesn't need to be that long. Just make sure that you write according to the instructions and avoid any mistakes.

It can take a couple of days to get your results, but it seems they contact you pretty quickly, as I didn't have to wait more than 24 hours. For most jobs you need to have a score over 75%, but some require more than 85%. The good thing is that you can improve your score over time. If you put in good work and your texts don't get rejected, your score will slowly go up.

In case you fail the test, you can try it again after 6 months, and in the meantime, you can still do the other jobs of course.

How much money can you actually make?

Well, this depends on a lot of factors: how much time you are investing, what kind of jobs you do and, most importantly, how many jobs are available.

For many of the smaller tasks you will only get a few cents, which doesn't sound like much at first. Most of them are not that difficult though, so if you are quick, you can actually earn about 5-12 Euros per hour. That's actually pretty good, if you wanna make some money on the side, I think.

Some tasks make a lot more than others though, so I would suggest to try various jobs and then focus on the ones that worked best for you.

For example, one job that I do frequently is to determine the main color of different articles. You just have to point your mouse on the surface with the matching color and click, it's that simple. Even if it's just 2 cents per article, it doesn't take too long to make a couple of Euros.

Of course you always have to read the instructions carefully first. Even if it sounds simple, you can still make mistakes and in the worst case, you will get excluded from that particular job in the future.

Are there enough jobs?

This will vary, depending on your location and first language. It seems like people from English or German speaking countries have the biggest amount of available jobs. But even then, there are often times, when you can't find a job that you want to do.

I think this is the biggest disadvantage of Clickworker because it puts a limit on the amount of money you can earn in one month.

One of the jobs you can always do is to take part in different surveys. Personally I didn't have a good experience with it though. Oftentimes you will get kicked out in the middle of the survey without compensation. After this happened to me several times, I decided to just focus on other tasks.

Are the text jobs worth the effort?

For many people the text jobs won't be such a great option. It generally takes a good amount of time to read the instructions, research topics, you might not know much about, and write an appealing piece of unique content. If you are not experienced in this type of work, it can take longer than expected to write even 200 words. So you might end up with just 3-5 Euros per hour.

If you really like writing though, this could be a good opportunity to improve your writing skills and make some money at the same time.

At the beginning you will often receive instructions to change or fix parts of your text. This is normal though, and mostly it doesn't take that long to fix. As long as you change it accordingly, they won't cut your writing score, so don't worry too much about it. Just see it as an opportunity to further improve your skills.

Tip: Since it takes a lot of time to read the instructions, look out for repeating jobs. If you memorize a few of the most frequent ones, you can start writing right away and save a lot of time. With enough practice, you can increase your speed and make a lot more money this way. This also applies to the other types of jobs.

What is the best way to use Clickworker?

Working full time for Clickworker won't be easy. In theory it's possible, but because of the highly fluctuating job offerings, I wouldn't recommend it. It's still possible to make several hundred Euros a month though, if you put in enough effort.

If you want to earn some extra money though, Clickworker is a great opportunity.

Sometimes there are really awesome jobs that are easy to do and earn you a lot of money, if you are quick. For example, one time I had to sort out certain pictures from Pinterest and was able to earn 36 Euros in just a bit over two hours.

All in all, I made about 100 Euros in my first month, so there is definitely a lot of potential, if you put in the time.

I think it's really awesome that you can use dead time like that and effectively increase your income. Since everything is free to use, there aren't any risks either, so there's no reason not to try it.
